TONE: the project that promotes equal job opportunities in the artistic-cultural sector for people with a migratory background.

The project

The TONE – Talents of New Europe project, winner of the Erasmus+ call, is a European project involving Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, with the aim of promoting equal opportunities for access to the world of work in the artistic and cultural sector. It is designed for people with a migratory background and an interest or previous experience in the artistic and cultural field.

The project aims to develop the artistic skills of participants and promote equal access to employment in the arts and cultural industries.

Action

The project involved the creation of a methodological manual designed for professionals involved in training in the artistic and cultural sector. This manual described a theatre training dedicated to groups of migrants interested in working in this sector. The goal was to provide a reference methodology to conduct, with their groups, a theatre training based on the methodology created within the TONE project. The manual is in fact built on the real experience of the theatre training that the partners in the Netherlands, Spain and Italy conducted with 75 participants with a migration background.

The project also included a meeting and exchange program between the people participating in the training and 45 representatives of artistic and cultural institutions and organizations in the three countries. This action aimed to promote access to employment opportunities in the artistic and cultural sector for the trainees. This process was also facilitated by the creation of a digital platform that facilitated the exchange of information and contributed to the development of awareness on the topic of intercultural dialogue, capacity building and international cooperation through art in the context of actions aimed at people with a migration background in Europe.

In 2021, the SCT Centre conducted and hosted the Italian artistic training in Turin, which involved 25 participants in the training course and the organization of the meeting between them and a group of 15 professionals in the artistic and cultural sector aimed at promoting opportunities for access to professions in this field. Furthermore, the SCT Centre was responsible for evaluating the impact of the training and the exchange program with artistic and cultural institutions.
