The issue of migrations, due to its strong cultural relevance, offers a preferential focus for analyzing the post-dramatic, performative and social polyvalence of contemporary theatricality and reveals transversally a widespread commitment, even if often not concerted, to act at the local level in search of an inclusive society.
Playing Inclusion. The Performing Arts in the Time of Migrations: Thinking, Creating and Acting Inclusion is a collection of essays written by sociologists, psychologists, artists, experts in social theater and facilitators, who describe and analyze from their different points of view and methodologies some experiences in which arts and performative practices focus on the complex migratory phenomenon.
The publication does not focus so much on an evaluation of which approach or methodology is most successful, but on an evaluation of the impact that a choral nature of artistic, cultural and social processes obtains thanks to its plural nature. It is evident that we are not facing an organized system, nor a stable network, because neither the external operators nor the cultural actors themselves are often aware of being part of a network. However, we believe that these experiences, as a whole, do a lot to integrate the institutional measures and interventions of public services aimed at promoting processes of widespread governance, where individuals assume direct responsibility for inclusion processes.
