Since the beginning of its history, SCT Centre has started training processes for those who want to approach the world of social theatre. The Master in Social and Community Theatre was born in 2003, in collaboration with UNITO: starting from a multidisciplinary approach, it offered a common language combining methodology and practice. Its four editions has trained some of the staff who now work in the SCT Centre, and has brought hundreds of social workers closer to theatre. The Master in SCT has also taught to actors and playwrights from all over Italy the methodology of Social and Community Theatre. This trend then developed in the training schools of SCT, which has now become Creativa.
The fight against educational poverty and the innovation of teaching through theatre are fundamental axes of the SCT Centre’s work with the world of schools. Since 2009, with the TIM-Theatre in Mathematics, Mathemact and Mathemart projects, SCT Centre has entered Italian and European schools with the aim of introducing teachers to the teaching of mathematics through theatre.
The experiences and training contexts are multiple: from targeted courses such as La scuola del dramaturg, to workshop courses for fragile minors such as La Bella Stagione and projects like 10 cum laude, Educatore cercasi and Prime Minister.
The educational vocation and training as a great process of human and professional growth have always been a crucial part of the SCT Centre’s philosophy.
We conduct planning, research and evaluation, developing performing arts events and workshops that promote cultural and social participation through the Social Community Theatre methodology.
