Towards a more inclusive university: workshops results become guide

The workshops of the HEARTS project, an initiative dedicated to promoting mental health and preventing trauma in university communities, have concluded with great participation.

The workshops, designed to train “mental health promoters” among students and academic staff, focused on supporting emotional well-being. The feedback collected highlighted how these sessions fostered new perspectives on personal well-being and strengthened the sense of community.

Simultaneously, Lisbon hosted a meeting between the project partners, a valuable opportunity for discussion and sharing. The partner universities of Barcelona, Lisbon, Malta, Cagliari, and Turin presented the results of their workshops, conducted with different methodologies but with a common goal: to promote mental well-being within the university.

Among the most significant experiences, the Photovoice approach, which uses photography as a tool for reflection and dialogue, and the Death Café, an open discussion space on sensitive topics such as grief and loss, stand out.

Looking ahead, the project is preparing for the next phase: the creation of a handbook by the SCT Centre. This tool will gather the best practices and methodologies tested during the process and will be made available for free on the HEARTS website in the fall. A significant step to strengthen the commitment to mental health in universities.
